Asana is great at organising work, but it does not give each task a short, human-friendly number. When you want to point at a specific task in a commit message, a Slack thread or a standup, you are stuck pasting a long URL or describing the task by name. Both are clumsy, and names change.
A simple sequential number per task fixes this. "Take a look at 142" is faster to say and impossible to misread.
Astogi's task numbering integration watches a project and assigns the next number in sequence to every task the moment it is created. Existing tasks keep their place, new tasks keep counting up, and numbering stays consistent across the whole project.
You do not have to remember to number anything. It happens in the background.
Task numbers become even more useful when you connect your repository. If you mention a task number in a commit message, Astogi can post that commit to the matching Asana task. See linking Git commits to Asana tasks for how that fits together.
For the full feature details and the exact Asana user to invite, see the task numbering page.
